Multiple communities are holding 9/11 remembrance events with ceremonies, memorial walks, and tributes planned for Friday and Saturday, Sept.
11-12. Attendees can join at venues in Beavercreek, Bellbrook, Fairborn, Blue Ash, Dayton, Hamilton, and Middletown to honor the victims and heroes.
The Miami Valley Urban League released its 138-page State of Black Dayton report this summer, showing that in the past ten years Black residents have gained jobs but still face challenges in housing, health and education.

U.S. District Court Judge Walter Rice (89) retired from full-time service on Aug.
28 but will keep presiding over re-entry cases and naturalization ceremonies while mentoring law students at the University of Dayton. He remains active in law (he continues his community commitment).

Ohio health insurance premiums are estimated to rise 10.7% now, with ACA Marketplace insurers planning a 15% increase in 2027, according to Healthinsurance.org and KFF.
Experts warn that higher costs may force some residents to cut back on spending on essentials (like cable or groceries).

COhatch and community partners began a $16.5M renovation on Tuesday, Sept.
8 at the historic D.L. Barnes building on Far Hills Ave to create a hub for Board of Education offices + 45 private offices. The restored building will open in late 2027.
