Montgomery County still has thousands of ballots to count after a record early-voting turnout

If you're watching a close race, there's still counting to do. Election Day went “relatively smoothly,” Director Jeff Rezabek said, and early voting set records with more than 40,000 votes. Turnout was about 56%, on par with 2018.

Those ballots matter most in tight spots. The 37th District race is separated by 134 votes, and the Dayton Public Schools levy is failing by fewer than 600 votes. If you're told to vote provisionally, Rezabek said, “Don't be discouraged. If we tell you to vote provisionally, it's probably going to count.”

Rezabek said provisional ballots could make a difference in that race.
