If you're watching a close race, there's still counting to do. Election Day went “relatively smoothly,” Director Jeff Rezabek said, and early voting set records with more than 40,000 votes. Turnout was about 56%, on par with 2018.

Those ballots matter most in tight spots. The 37th District race is separated by 134 votes, and the Dayton Public Schools levy is failing by fewer than 600 votes. If you're told to vote provisionally, Rezabek said, “Don't be discouraged. If we tell you to vote provisionally, it's probably going to count.”

Rezabek said provisional ballots could make a difference in that race.

  • Provisional counting begins: next Thursday
  • Results certified: Nov. 24

The Wrap

Dayton still hasn't had a night at or below freezing this season, and tonight could be the first. The typical first freeze comes around Oct. 25, so we're a little late for that milestone. Temperatures may drop to 32, and Sunday morning will feel like the mid 20s. Bring in the tender plants and grab a coat.
